Frankfurt, 04.01.2005 – Quick and unbureaucratic: Varta Consumer Batteries – member of the Rayovac Group is donating EUR 100.000 to the victims of the natural disaster in South Asia. Furthermore, Varta is providing another EUR 25.000 in donations – amongst these auxiliary material, such as torches, batteries and high-performance accus.

Today, these charitable donations will be consigned to the initiative of the ZDF and Bild within the scope of a special TV gala show called “We want to help – A heart for children” (“Wir wollen helfen – Ein Herz für Kinder”).

“South Asia and the affected people are in urgent need of help. Whoever has seen the shocking pictures on TV can witness how an ideal world collapsed in seconds and how the victims were in agony and sustained in fear. We accept responsibility towards the environment and would like to contribute to relieving the distress”, says Rémy Burel, chairman of Varta Consumer Batteries.
